Not 100 percent, but Rondo to play in Game 1

Despite not being at full strength, Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo said he’ll start on Thursday in Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers.

On Tuesday, Rondo said “I’m about 67 percent today. I won’t be 100 percent by Thursday, but I’ll be like 94.7.”

Rondo took a bad spill in the Celtics’ decisive Game 6 victory over the Orlando Magic last Friday in the Eastern Conference Finals. He had been suffering back spasms earlier in that series, and was limited in practice on Monday before taking part in the entire session on Tuesday.

Boston figures to have a sizeable advantage at the point guard position if Rondo is healthy. Lakers veteran guard Derek Fisher, while crafty and capable of hitting big shots, was torched by a similarly-athletic Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder in the opening round of the playoffs. Rondo could be the difference for the Celtics.

NBA playoffs really heating up

After four games, it looked like each conference final was going to be complete dud in the NBA.

All of the sudden, we are five games through each of the series and both are completely up for grabs.

The Boston Celtics had a commanding 3-0 series lead only to see their confidence shaken as the Orlando Magic have rallied back to force a Game 6.

The Los Angeles Lakers are up 3-2 over the Phoenix Suns, but they have all been entertaining games.

The most recent one was the best game of the playoffs, as the Lakers won on a buzzer beater from Ron Artest.
